How a conversation between a Juvenile Justice Ministry staff and a young person during a pivotal moment, led to two teens giving their lives to Christ.
Last month, while visiting at the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC), Stephen began talking with a young man named Dustin*. Dustin was preparing to serve a year upstate in a secure facility and he was expressing the stress of the upcoming move through aggression. During their conversation, Dustin asked,
“Can God keep me safe?”
Stephen then proceeded to share the Gospel with him – telling him all about the eternal life he can have through faith in Jesus. He shared about the hope found in salvation and the love of the Father, to which Dustin replied, “I guess God can be my Dad because I never had one.”
But that’s not all.
As Stephen was about to lead Dustin in prayer to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior, another young man who was watching television on the other side of the room asked, “Can I join you?”
He told them he was listening to their conversation and wanted to follow Christ too!
On that evening, there was rejoicing in heaven, because two new sons were adopted into the family of God!
